The Retro Dress

This top photo is more true to color as it was taken with the iPhone and the others with my Nikon.
Two things here. The hem is not in this dress yet and the fabric belt is not made. The petticoat I thought was too puffy seems to look good under this. I might end up keeping it after all.

One thing I really see with this dress is that I certainly do not have the tiny waist as the pattern shows or the bust line. No I have a more normal waist of 30". To look like the pattern I would have to wear something to pull in my middle and build up my chest not something I worry too much about!

The first thing I thought of when I saw you in this dress is "Evening in Paris" and my heart was calm. It is beautiful on you Nan. The blue reminds me of the color of a entry way I once had in my artsy days. I had beautiful royal blue with deep purple and it was elegant with stained glass windows. I can picture you coming through that door and the whole entry way would lite up!

Happy Holidays Nan!

I love the color--actually both colors, but the one you say was taken with your IPhone is gorgeous. I wonder if anybody ever really had that tiny waist that they show on that pattern anyway.

You look sooo good in that blue! And your dogs are true model material that's for sure. If that was me, my new blue dress would be covered in white fur in no time.

Nan, I feel so light of spirit when I visit your blog. Your dress is absolutely wonderful! Your student's blouse is very sweet as well. I think a vintage scarf and pin would absolutely look stunning on this vibrant blue. Such fun Nan! E

That dress is fantastic and you look gorgeous in it! That color!! Perfect! Don't send the petticoat back. I love how it looks with that dress.

And most people do not have that tiny of a waist. Good heavens, it looks silly. You look much better!

Blessings

You look beautful and happy in this lovely dress. Wonderful color on you and it must be fun to wear something so full and flounce-y.

It looks beautiful! The color is perfect for you. I think the pattern illustration is showing ladies in typical foundations for the time. A full body girdle with pointier than modern cups would get us modern girls to look more like the drawing but why would we want to!? Just saying.
