Busy Week

Photo taken of Bob, Ingrid, Nan and the boys on Sunday Sept 9th before my daughter and her husband boarded the ferry for Kodiak
(Bob was cold wearing my jacket)
Buying cars can be a quite different arrangement here in Alaska than where you live. My son in law bought this BMW this last week. He lives on Kodiak Island so he and my daughter took a plane to Anchorage then another to Juneau where the car was located. For those of you who don't know there are no roads into or out of Juneau our capitol city (you fly or boat in and out.)  He purchased the car then the next day boarded a ferry for Haines, got off and drove 1001 miles to Homer, it's a big state! Then after a visit with us boarded a ferry Sunday morning in Homer to sail to Kodiak.

Ern
They were able to stay two days with us as the service on the car was quite fast in Anchorage. We had fun eating out at Fat Olives and Cups which Ern now loves! If you ever come to Alaska you must eat at Cups!

The above is our Sunday event after church a picnic and wouldn't you know the luck we had with a sunny day! We were all very thankful for this.
Photo credit Debbie Watkins of Homer Alaska who sees this out her window at work.

This is a drilling rig parked in Kachemak Bay for over a week now waiting on permits to leave up the Cook Inlet to Nikiski where they will drill for oil.
*We're headed to Fairbanks on Tue., 582 miles, with me driving my new car up and the dogs coming along on the adventure. We stay overnight in Anchorage with our friends. We'll be seeing the Fall colors and visiting with our grandson Dallas who is in the university there. Hope to have some good pictures to share.

I saw something on the news yesterday that Shell had started some preliminary digging up there--wonder if this is the same one or if it's another one waiting for permits.
