High Winds Again

As you know we feed the birds here. The flock of 70 mallards we were feeding has flown off to open waters so now we have a flock of 12 pheasant we feed twice a day. They really look forward to the food and are never far away hiding in the tall grass.  They get on the board before we can get back in the house even with the dogs out there. We've been plagued with high winds lately up to 50 mph gusts. Today we have a high of 17 degrees and 25 mph winds. It's blowing the powdery dry snow like crazy and I just took this of the pheasant out on the board in this wind.

It is rare to see a pheasant around here anymore. They are so beautiful. Hope that wind doesn't blow you away.

Why the board? Is it to keep the pheasants out of the grass. Clean feed. I just started feed the birds again. The cat loves to watch them and we sit at the dinner table and watch them as we eat our meals. Nature is beautiful...smiles...Renee

Cold here too, Nan but our winds died down! I love Pheasants. We had lots of them when we lived in SD. Not as many here but we do see them occasionally. ♥

Those are such beautiful birds! I am so glad you feed them. Hard to believe people shoot them and eat them, but I guess they are suppose to taste "like chicken but better" - I say GO BUY CHICKEN! ha ha.
