Patterns and Ponds

Simplicity 2588 a 1940's peplum suit on it's way from Etsy. Isn't this just the darn cutest thing!!
I saw this and had to have it. I'm a sucker for a peplum it seems. I'm in the process of finishing details on a peplum red dress. All I have left is hemming and making a belt to match. I've been busy this week trying to complete it, easy but cumbersome with the full lining if you know what I mean. More fabric and patterns are looked forward to in my mail box! has a sale on cotton velvet and I snagged some yardage in pink and antique white, 2 yards each, not sure what I'll make! Do you do this? Just buy material because you like it then figure out later what to make?

We've had over 35 ducks in our pond lately. They hang out all day here and eat lots of corn. I took these photos this afternoon.

Ooohh...I love a good peplum dress!! Yours looks amazing!!!

I buy more patterns just to buy them than fabric. Though I will ocassionally pick up a good fabric deal and then figure out what to do with it later :)

I also wanted to say a big CONGRATS on your wedding anniversary! That is so lovely! I love all your photos!!!

hugs, Debi

That was nice looking at an old dress pattern. And that's a lot of ducks on your pond. Do you have bears that come on your place?

Hi Nan, I read today in Smithsonian an article about the photographer who was made famous by his portraits of the type of dogs you have. The dog's name was Ray Man. It was very interesting to read his view that the breed of dog is like a clothing model. I giggled thinking you are now a beautiful clothes model, and well you dogs have always been beautiful models! Loved your family photograph! Elizabeth

Dress pattern is fantastic. I am a little biased though with my vintage needs...The ducks are so sweet. I can't believe so many decided to stop. Have a wonderful weekend...smiles...Renee

That dress is right up your alley Nan! 35 ducks! Wow! I have had two Mallards that decided my pool here in Arizona was a good spot for the winter, in my old home....hated to have to shoo theemm off, but they pooped all over the place, including the pool! YUK! One week from today my sons and me are going up to northern AZ to get Abbey! First stop a dog frindly hotel and a nice warm bath for our girl! I can hardly wait! The trainer called Bryan two days ago and said that they took her out hunting, not pretend but real, she pointed the quail, they shot the quail she retrived it and dropped it in his hand.....they said "Bryan, you have got yourself a trained hunting dog"! He can't wait to trials with her this winter...:) I just can't wait to see her! :):)

You do very nice work and are definitely not the only one snagging fabric on sale and then deciding what to do with it!!

Hey Pretty Lady,

You've always had spectacular style Nan, and those fabrics along with the pattern are just the perfect mix.

I also want to thank you for your continued concern for my mom and myself. It's very appreciated, and I don't want you thinking I'm not taking your advice seriously. When I have time, I'm looking into your diet suggestions and seeing what I can use to help my mom. God has blessed me with a special friend as you, and I don't intend to take your help for granted. I want you to know you're very special to me and I really, really do appreciate any and all advice you send to me. I admire you greatly as well as look up to you, so keep the suggestions and sweet comments coming dear lady.

Love ya'
