Kalen and Wildlife

Kalen went to the vet last evening and this morning as well. He's not been doing well since his neutering and partial dew claw removal but hopefully after this he will pick up. The vet last night x-rayed his stomach as he's been sick with vomiting and not snapping out of it. Sure enough there was some odd things going on inside there. Last night and this morning things started to move and almost all of it has passed out now. He had some strips of fabric in there which passed out last night and the X-ray this morning shows more but in line to come out. The vet and I thought he might require surgery to remove a blockage but he's doing well on his own moving this out. These dogs eat so much crap it's very difficult for us to keep him out of things. The vet wants us to use a cage muzzle on him when he's outside. We're mulling that one over.
This mama and her twins were seen out the window chasing off a single cow moose who looked about to deliver herself. Mama moose are not approachable when they have little ones, they are very protective and get themselves killed when they have a run in with a human. This has already happened twice in Alaska this Spring and has orphaned several calves. What becomes of them? They are captured and raised then later released.
These ducks are American Wigeons and have an interesting blue bill. They spent the day in our pond and at our feeder yesterday.

Poor sad face of Kalen! I hope he feels better soon and will stick to a dog food only diet!

Awww poor Kalen! Here's hoping everything comes out alright! ;)
Sounds like my Little Hippy. I came home one day to find only the heel of one of Hubby's tube socks left, she passed it pretty easily. Love the pics of the moose too. We had a doe with a fawn in our backyard yesterday but I couldn't get close enough to get a picture.

We can make ourselves sick with worry over these sweet dogs, can't we? Thanks so much for stopping and visiting over "at my place." You're so right, thousands of miles apart but a lot in common. What a wonderful place you have found to live in for retirement.

Great pictures - we don't have moose in Juneau/Douglas, but we do have bears, porcupines, deer, ravens and eagles (and marmots)!

I hope your doggie feels better soon!

Here I thought Kalen was doing so well and now I read this---you have to stop feeding him your fabric scraps Nan. LOL

It seems like every year you're able to get pictures of twins there--they always look so darn cute following mama the way they do.

Kalen honey you need a vacation. Poor baby. Did he eat some sewing scraps? Beautiful moose and twins. I would get nothing done watching the wildlife. Glad you are enjoying it.
