Happy Homemaker Tag

My tag for the month of March represents the sewing I did for the family. Back in the days when I was a young mother I used to sew all my kids clothes. This tag shows a photo of the actual pattern I used for the western shirts I made for the kids in the late 60's. I made these out of red/white gingham. I also made my husband many of these same shirts which were not simple. We had horses in those days for about 11 years on a small ranch until we sold them all and moved into town and bought an airplane. But that is another story of the 25 years we flew planes around the US.

I remember those heavily patterned shirts. The kind that were starched stiff on Sunday mornings and pliable for daily chores. I cannot imagine sewing something so intricate. Yet, they used to cost a fortune. Lovely tag. I always love your quotes...Renee

Your tag is sew cute! I made one of those shirts. It was back when I was about 18 and I made it for my boyfriend. I put one sleeve upside down and didn't realize it until I gave it to him to try on. Oops. He wouldn't let me fix it. He just kept the sleeves rolled up.

Nan! You have led THE most fascinating life! Horses and airplanes, you must share. PLUS I am fascinated that you sewed all of your childrens clothing. My clothing was made for me through my teen years, and I am curious if it was less expensive making them yourself. Love all that you share with us. What a cute tag! Elizabeth

I love your tag! I also like the memories. I too sewed my children's clothing. It is something my son still brags about to this day. We also have horses, not eleven, but I don't see us getting a plane. Whew! Can't wait to see next month and hear your story.

I made a few western shirts - not an easy task. My mother made all of my clothes, too - and I sewed quite a bit for my daughter and myself, too. Those were the days! Your life sounds so very interesting.

Great tag theme! Great tag :) Isn't it funny that the styles and patterns we used are now vintage? I guess that makes us vintage too!
